Nobody Internet Submissions!

so i came a little late to the Wonder Girls party... i had wanted to do a supercut of all the people who did Wondergirls dance covers (because there are many) but of course, someone at their label already did a supercut of people on the internet doing the dance. it's really interesting to me how the meme of song and dance is so infectious and powerful. singing and dancing is probably hardwired into our lizard brain from our more primitive days.

i still might do that supercut. better late than never i suppose.

The Legend of Zelda: Real Life

i had always wondered about this: in RPGs it seems generally permissible to wander into people's houses, open up their treasure chests, or in the case of Link, smash their pots and chop their plants in order to find hearts and rupees. maybe in japan if you were on a quest that behavior was considered just fine.

Wood block print

So this weekend in addition to attending nick and shawntes wedding, i went to the palace legion of honor in sf for the "japanesque" exhibit (which reminded me that japan only fully opened up to the west 150 years ago, and that there have been weabos at least as long).





Anyway they had a workshop wherein we got to learn how to make woodblock prints from the artist Tomoko Murasaki.  It was pretty rad.

making woodblock prints is relatively simply: get a woodblock, draw an image, carve the image out of the block, ink the block, press the paper on the block and voila. making a good woodblock print is another story.

zero points of articulation

this is actually a fake toy aby thinkGeek, but you can vote for it to be turned into a real product. of course if you really want one, I've got a DIY kit version (it's a sharpie and a piece of wood).

pork-chop and brie sammich

Pork chop and brie sandwich

Ingedients

1 porkchop

1 clove of garlic

1 stalk of celery

2 leaves fresh basil

a bit of garlic chives

Brie cheese

In a pan heat a little butter and your pressed clove of garlic.  Chop the garlic chive finely and smear them on the boneless porkchop and dice your celery.  Once the butter is melted throw in your pork chop and celery in and cook it on med heat.

While thats cooking, toast your bread.  I used wheat.  Try to time it so that the toast comes out when your pork finishes.

Once the toast is done spread brie cheese on one or both pieces of bread, as you would spread butter.  Take your pork, chop into strips and arrange them on the bread, with a leaf of basil, followed by the celery.  Close your sandwich and eat it. 

Xbox commecial that was banned

this was a supposedly banned Xbox commercial (although more likely some execs saw it and decided it was too risky to air), but the concept is really awesome, people playing shoot-out like the creator no doubt did when he/she was a little kid. it would provide fuel though, for all those people who believe that playing violent video games leads to violent behavior. but on that topic, humans were violent long before video games, television, music, and popular culture glorified it. in fact, we were violent long before we were even homo-sapiens. yup, everyone has a tiger inside of them.
